41 pounds of kid in a stroller!

Milo and I went out for a 6.25 mile run this afternoon. I ate some pancakes this morning that did not agree with me and I really needed to run to counteract the agitation and anxiety that gluten or something that was in the mix, had on me. When I eat gluten it turns up my emotional volume and it makes me miserable. On a side note it could have been the eggs but like a dumb ass I thought about it and then blew it off and now I don't know for sure.   The upside is that the run was lovely and Milo and I both had a great time together and it took the edge off my anxiety. It made the rest of my day so much mellower.
I pushed him in the jogging stroller on my hilly cemetery route.
It was so stinkin' hard!  I was huffing and puffing and it was more of a hoppy walk going up some of the hills than a run but I did the whole route!  I have goals for next time already!
I used to push Archimedes in the jogger but that was when he was 20 pounds.  I weighed Milo when we got home and he is 41 pounds!
At the top of the largest hill on the first pass we stopped to drink some nuun. I love this stuff!  Check out my nuun giveaway.

At the end of the cemetery portion of the route we did some hill sprints.
The adorable little red and green blur in the middle of the hill is Milo getting started on our hill sprints.
We had a blast racing up and down the hill! I went up  and down 6 times and he made it 4 and was doing a swim crawl up the hill with a huge smile on his face for the last one. You can see in the above photo our jogging stroller back by the road for perspective. The hills never look as tall as they do in person!
It was amazing how easy they seemed after having pushed him in the stroller. I felt light as a feather and my legs felt so fresh!

Dogwood tree?? Not entirely sure but we looked cute taking a photo when we were done in the cemetery and on our way home.  I thought it would rain when we started out but the sun decided to join us in the end.

I am a barefoot runner unless the terrain calls for foot wear and then its a minimal shoe and for me, I wear Teve Proton water shoes.  I wore them today because I knew that pushing the stroller would cause me to push off on the balls of my feet instead of my usual midfoot landing on the steeper hills.  Its also a bit harder to see what you are stepping on with the stroller to block the view. I can track ahead and do well when its flat but the hills made it a shoe day.  I would love to try some Vibrams Five Fingers but have yet found a way to justify the price of them when I have an adequate solution already.  I wish they would give me a pair to review for this blog!

I thought of you several times Shelly! I have a newfound respect for mama's pushing strollers as well as newfound determination!
It was a wonderful humbling and inspiring run!

Nice job Angie! You are my inspiration- I've worried that when I have kids working out will be hard but it helps to see you doing it.

I second AM, just ask them, the worst they can say is no... and if they say yes, awesome!

Beautiful photos. It looks like you had a great time and a good workout. I haven't had the stroller out for a while but it is a workout, 41 lbs no less!

I found out the hard way that running with a stroller changes my stride =) I came home with some skin missing on my toes. And go ahead and ask for a pair of Vibrams to test. I absolutely love mine.

You follow me, I follow you! Great blog as I've enjoyed lurking on it this morning. Love that you're a barefoot runner. QQ: do you ever wear shoes in the wintertime or do you just run indoors? I noticed that you're in Iowa and I know you receive a pretty hefty snowfal during the winter months.

I love the hill repeats!

Hi Barefoot AngieB, Just found your blog. Thanks for your comments on mine! I am blown away... 41 pounds of kiddo in a stroller? That is SOME resistance training. I am currently pushing 16.5 pounds of kid in a 26 pound stroller and it kills me every time!
Re: vibrams - how about writing them a letter, tell them about your blog and your passion for running barefoot and in their shoes! Tell them how many followers you have on your blog and how many of us are runners and ask them to sponsor you! I wonder if running is an untapped market for them so far? They might be interested in getting some visibility in the running community.

I still don't know how people push those strollers with SUCH big kids in them! Has to be great training for sure! :)

What a workout!! I ran past a cemetery yesterday too!

I think you could be the poster girl for Vibrams...have you sent them an email about a possible review???

Great pictures of your run today. Your sone is adorable and taking to the running it seems. I would love for VFF to send you a pair of their "shoes" to run in. You definitely need to write to them or email them with a link to your blog.

Sounds like a great run and great bonding w/ Milo! I remember those days of pushing the stroller and it is hard! But it will make you stronger.

Super cute pictures! On the rare occasion that I have to run with the triple jogger I am pushing 105lbs of kids and a 35lb stroller ... wanna trade?

Great job on the run! I gave up pushing Shoo a while back and he hasn't quite hit 40 pounds yet.
