About

Barefoot is a philosophy and way of life.   Its more than just taking off my shoes.  Its a way of looking at things clearly instead of muffled by shoes or any other kind of cover up we might have for ourselves.  I strive to learn and grow and try to accept myself as the whole person that I am now, past, present, and future.

I am a mother and a wife and those gifts are my foundation for finding my bliss in life.   It's very fulfilling to take care of my people and in turn they take care of me.  The inspire and motivate me which I channel in hopes to inspire you too.

I am a mother to four boy spawn, one of whom has autism.   I am well versed in special diets as my son Jupiter has been on a casein/gluten/soy/egg free diet for many years.  I too have discovered that food has a profound affect on my health.    My first son was born via c-section.  My second was a natural hospital VBAC.  My third spawn was born in a Birth Center, and my fourth son was born at home unassisted.

Pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding are passions of mine and I welcome all questions and dialogue about them.   I have gathered so much information along my journey and love to share my experience.

In June of 2009 I began barefoot running after suffering from chronic lower back pain and shin splints.  I ditched the shoes and have never had back problems again.   I ran a barefoot marathon as well as many other race distances  barefoot.  Its is very joyful and fun to do.  I started running to cope with every day stress that goes with mothering and life in general.

I became a natural running coach in May of 2011 and share a coaching website with my good friend Tina Dubois

I am currently recovering from Adrenal Fatigue and Multiple Sclerosis.  I am battling these issues with yoga, barefoot walking, hiking, meditation, foods, and supplements and having a great deal of success.   Yoga is a perfect match for barefoot running.  The idea of proprioception is a "given" in yoga and was a natural extension to my running.    When I used to run barefoot it had a meditative and restorative quality as well as the other health benefits of running which is also very much like what I love about yoga and again why its such a perfect match and lovely transition for me.

SciFi geek, gardener, beekeeper, social media guru, artist, writer, and human are other descriptions of little old me!

I wish you well and please say hi in the comments of any blog post!
Cheers,
